FIRST IMPRESSION: ISLAND


Island is a drama sci-fi anime from studio feel , it is set on a secluded island Urashima where the people have little to no contact with the mainland. People on this island are bound by ancient traditions and beliefs and are on the verge of giving up all hope. One day a self proclaimed time traveller Setsuna washes up on the shore of this island, all he remembers is that he must fulfill a mission. He meets three girls Rinne, Karen and Sara, and together the four of them work towards the betterment of the people on the island. As far as the first episode is concerned , the animation was pretty good, character designs were great and visuals were amazing. Overall the anime was just brilliant to look at. Unfortunately that was the only thing that it seemed to be good at, characters felt generic and the structure and writing of the episode felt a bit weird .The episode was not anything special but the anime seems to be building towards an interesting story. My only fear is the show turning into a loli harem and by looking at the first episode there is a pretty good possibility of that. I just hope that they carry on building the plot and deliver a comprehensive story. It also has hints of comedy which I appreciate . So yeah, the first episode was decent , probably not something that I will be following weekly. This episode turned out to be a bit disappointing for me as I was looking forward to the show and I'm hoping that the future episodes are a lot better.

MANGA DISCUSSION: DROPS OF GOD

Drops of god is a drama manga series illustrated by Shu Okimoto and completed its run in 2014. The manga follows Shizuku Kanzaki who is the son of a highly coveted wine expert Yutaka Kanzaki who started teaching him about wine from a very young age. Shizuku being a rebellious child started to hate wine and later on joined a beer company. The story starts with Shizuku recieving news that his father from whom he is estranged has passed away. He visits the family home to hear his father's will. In the will his father mentions that whoever will correctly identify thirteen wines known as the "twelve apostles" and the thirteenth known as the "drops of god" will inherit his legacy( wine collection). MANGAKA SPOTLIGHT #1: TAISHI TSUTSUI

Today we will be taking a look at all the manga that Taishi Tsutsui has worked on , I will be talking about each one of them and comparing them as to showcase the journey that the mangaka has been through for the past decade. We will be starting with his first ever manga , Esprit. Esprit is a fantasy , action manga from Taishi Tsutsui , it is set in a world where numerous islands are called "homes" and people of a particular home have little to no knowledge about other homes. These homes are discovered and are kept in check by the agents of the "ocean affairs agency" , from here on I will be referring to these agents as OA agents (ocean affairs agents).
