FIRST IMPRESSION: SATSURIKU NO TENSHI

Satsuriku no tenshi is a psychological horror anime from JC staff , it follows Rachel , a 13 year old girl who wakes up in a basement of a building having lost all her memories.  She wanders the building aimlessly and meets a man covered in bandages who wields a grim reaper like sickle. A strange bond is struck between them , both of them don't know why they are trapped in this building and try to find a way out. A pretty simple but effective premise and to be honest these simple premises more often than not tend to work really well.

When I first heard about this anime I did not realise that it is an adaptation of an RPG maker game. If I would have, I might have been more excited for this anime as there are tons of brilliant horror RPG maker games out there just ready to get adapted as anime. I am glad that they chose to adapt Angels of Death as it is a phenomenal game that I would recommend to everyone. Now , let's talk about the anime , the first episode was incredibly well done. The animations were nice , character designs were creepy and the soundtrack was fantastic. The brilliant creepy soundtrack mixed with an equally creepy setting created a great atmosphere,  and this is what I want from my horror anime , I don't like shows with cheap jumpscares after every two minutes of breathing time , rather I want the show to create an atmosphere that keeps me on the edge of my seat throughout the episode and this anime succeeded in doing just that. The writing and structure of the episode was also pretty good. It's been a long time since I have enjoyed a psychological horror so I am really looking forward to the future episodes and I also urge everyone to follow this one weekly and also play the game if you have the time to do so.

Thank you everyone for reading , follow me on twitter @allaboutanimee for regular updates about what anime I am watching or what manga I am reading and have a nice day.

MANGAKA SPOTLIGHT #1: TAISHI TSUTSUI

Today we will be taking a look at all the manga that Taishi Tsutsui has worked on , I will be talking about each one of them and comparing them as to showcase the journey that the mangaka has been through for the past decade. We will be starting with his first ever manga , Esprit. Esprit is a fantasy , action manga from Taishi Tsutsui , it is set in a world where numerous islands are called "homes" and people of a particular home have little to no knowledge about other homes. These homes are discovered and are kept in check by the agents of the "ocean affairs agency" , from here on I will be referring to these agents as OA agents (ocean affairs agents). These OA agents have certain powers called jinxes which stem from a person's faith. For example ,  if I believe with all my heart that I can cause weather changes then I will gain that power or jinx. The story follows an apprentice OA agent Mio and her friends' adventures , as they explore these hom...

ANIME REVIEW: GAKKOU GURASHI

Gakkou Gurashi is a slice of life, horror anime from studio Lerche and is based off of a manga with the same name. It follows four highschool girls Yuki, Miki, Kurumi, and Yuuri who along with their teacher, Sakura, are members of the School Living club which, as the name suggests, is a club whose members live in the school and are not allowed to leave the school grounds. Yuki absolutely loves the school and the club but is unaware of the harsh reality behind its creation. So, slice of life and horror, these are two genres which are pretty difficult to combine and thus tend to result in disappointments but at the same time, if executed well, can make a show highly entertaining. Thankfully in this case the genres are combined pretty well, the plot is unique and no matter how ridiculous it may seem at first glance, it works. The plot develops into a really enjoyable and immersive story, the slick animations and pleasant background score ensure a good time for the viewers. But th...
