FIRST IMPRESSION: SHICHISEI NO SUBARU

Shichisei no Subaru is an action fantasy title from studio Lerche ,  the story is about a group of grade schoolers who rise to fame as the legendary party Subaru in the mmorpg Union. Everything is going well until one of the members die in real life while playing the game, because of this Union ends service while the other members mourn their friend's death. Six years later , the leader of the group , Haruto , has become a hopeless highschool student. One day he is convinced by his friends to play the mmorpg Reunion , there he ends up meeting the friend that was supposed to be dead six years ago. Now , the story seems pretty interesting and the show might end up being decent by the end of the 12 or however many episodes they are doing but the first episode was completely ridiculous and at times did not make any sense whatsoever.

I would like to start by talking about the writing. It was shit , the way the characters talked was completely retarded , their interactions felt so stupid and out of place that at times I felt like I was watching the second season of an anime without checking out the first. Every time any character started speaking I instantly got the feeling that , this is not how real people talk but how stupid plot devices talk. The pacing and structure of the episode was really weird , at one point it's an action anime , two seconds later we have romantic elements thrown into the mix , two more seconds and the ridiculous amounts of edge takes over and then out of nowhere comes comedy. Watching the first episode felt like walking through a storm and all the irrelevant dialogues , themes and plot devices hitting me in the face repeatedly. The only redeeming qualities were probably decent animation and a somewhat interesting storyline. I hope that the rest of the show sticks to one theme and works towards providing a reasonable conclusion to the story but that might very well be just wishful thinking on my part. I would suggest everyone to stay away from this anime for the time being , if it gets better I will let you guys know.

Thank you everyone for reading , follow me on twitter @allaboutanimee for updates on whatever I watch or read and have a nice day.

MANGAKA SPOTLIGHT #1: TAISHI TSUTSUI

Today we will be taking a look at all the manga that Taishi Tsutsui has worked on , I will be talking about each one of them and comparing them as to showcase the journey that the mangaka has been through for the past decade. We will be starting with his first ever manga , Esprit. Esprit is a fantasy , action manga from Taishi Tsutsui , it is set in a world where numerous islands are called "homes" and people of a particular home have little to no knowledge about other homes. These homes are discovered and are kept in check by the agents of the "ocean affairs agency" , from here on I will be referring to these agents as OA agents (ocean affairs agents). These OA agents have certain powers called jinxes which stem from a person's faith. For example ,  if I believe with all my heart that I can cause weather changes then I will gain that power or jinx. The story follows an apprentice OA agent Mio and her friends' adventures , as they explore these hom...

ANIME REVIEW: GAKKOU GURASHI

Gakkou Gurashi is a slice of life, horror anime from studio Lerche and is based off of a manga with the same name. It follows four highschool girls Yuki, Miki, Kurumi, and Yuuri who along with their teacher, Sakura, are members of the School Living club which, as the name suggests, is a club whose members live in the school and are not allowed to leave the school grounds. Yuki absolutely loves the school and the club but is unaware of the harsh reality behind its creation. So, slice of life and horror, these are two genres which are pretty difficult to combine and thus tend to result in disappointments but at the same time, if executed well, can make a show highly entertaining. Thankfully in this case the genres are combined pretty well, the plot is unique and no matter how ridiculous it may seem at first glance, it works. The plot develops into a really enjoyable and immersive story, the slick animations and pleasant background score ensure a good time for the viewers. But th...
