FIRST IMPRESSION:KYOTO TERAMACHI SANJOU NO HOLMES

Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes is a mystery anime from studio Seven . It has two main protagonists ,  Mashiro Aoi , a highschool student and Yagashira Kiyotaka , who is known as the Holmes at Teramachi Sanjou , hence the title. Both of them work at an antique shop and solve odd cases brought to them by various clients.

I went into the first episode not expecting much from the show and I don't know that if it was due to my low expectations but I found the episode to be pretty decent. It was far from perfect but I can't say that it was bad either. The show seems to be going with a pretty simple mystery plot where two people work together to solve impossible looking cases , kind of like Gosick did . Now , it is nowhere near how good Gosick was , one of the major reasons for that is that some of the deductions in this episode just did not feel genuine at all and that is a major area where the show needs to improve in the future episodes. Another area where the show was inconsistent were the animations , I noticed  multiple places where the animation just felt wonky , just look at the video below where Holmes-san is turning like a stupid mechanical doll.

The voice acting was pretty good but the writing could have been better. Well , the things that  shows like this rely heavily on are firstly , the story , if the mystery is not immersive enough then what's the point of even watching the show. Secondly ,  the interactions between the two protagonists , as these interactions form a bulk of the dialogues and need to be written well. The question that now arises is that , if I did not like anything then why did I think that the show is decent and not garbage. That is because the show works , other than a few minor problems the first episode was fine and all the areas where it is average can be easily covered up by some good mystery plotlines. So all I am hoping for is the story to be engaging and if it is , the show can really become a good one. I suggest to give this a total of three episodes , if it fails to impress , just drop it.

MANGAKA SPOTLIGHT #1: TAISHI TSUTSUI

Today we will be taking a look at all the manga that Taishi Tsutsui has worked on , I will be talking about each one of them and comparing them as to showcase the journey that the mangaka has been through for the past decade. We will be starting with his first ever manga , Esprit. Esprit is a fantasy , action manga from Taishi Tsutsui , it is set in a world where numerous islands are called "homes" and people of a particular home have little to no knowledge about other homes. These homes are discovered and are kept in check by the agents of the "ocean affairs agency" , from here on I will be referring to these agents as OA agents (ocean affairs agents). These OA agents have certain powers called jinxes which stem from a person's faith. For example ,  if I believe with all my heart that I can cause weather changes then I will gain that power or jinx. The story follows an apprentice OA agent Mio and her friends' adventures , as they explore these hom...

ANIME REVIEW: GAKKOU GURASHI

Gakkou Gurashi is a slice of life, horror anime from studio Lerche and is based off of a manga with the same name. It follows four highschool girls Yuki, Miki, Kurumi, and Yuuri who along with their teacher, Sakura, are members of the School Living club which, as the name suggests, is a club whose members live in the school and are not allowed to leave the school grounds. Yuki absolutely loves the school and the club but is unaware of the harsh reality behind its creation. So, slice of life and horror, these are two genres which are pretty difficult to combine and thus tend to result in disappointments but at the same time, if executed well, can make a show highly entertaining. Thankfully in this case the genres are combined pretty well, the plot is unique and no matter how ridiculous it may seem at first glance, it works. The plot develops into a really enjoyable and immersive story, the slick animations and pleasant background score ensure a good time for the viewers. But th...
