LET'S DISCUSS: YAMA NO SUSUME

Yama no Susume is a slice of life anime from studio 8bit , it follows the daily lives of four girls (now five) Aoi, Hinata , Kokona and Kaede. The show has mountaineering as it's main theme which is a  passion for all the girls , but their motivations for climbing mountains is different and this difference in motivations creates a great dynamic between everyone. One of the reasons why I like this anime is that it's not just about "cute girls climbing mountains" it takes mountaineering as a base line for the characters and then develops each of the characters from there , and by the end of the second season all the characters have a certain depth to them which is always great to see. Everyone has their own set of challenges and these challenges help them grow as people and that is portrayed very well. And on top of that it also has a fair share of comedy which is not over the top and executed very well. The animations , score , voice acting , visuals and writing , all are very impressive. This is one of those anime that improve with every new season that comes out. But this very fact is the reason why I feel that this anime is a bit under appreciated.
Now , let's take a look at the first season of the show. The first season was also a short form but it only had three minutes per episode. In my opinion the most important thing for a slice of life , adventure anime is the cinematography , as cinematography is what immerses the audience. The character depth and writing comes later , if the scenery in your adventure anime is not good to look at then the whole quality of the show drops. I feel that the first season was a bit lacking in the department of  cinematography and on top is that is the fact that it was only three minutes per episode , so by the time anyone starts getting sucked into the anime the episode ends. This is a huge reason why a good amount of people gave up on the anime during the first season.
The second season heavily improved on these issues with a lot of improvement in the cinematography department and a lot of breathtaking scenery. On top of that they increased the episode length to 13 minutes which allowed the audience to get immersed and enjoy all the brilliant visuals to their full extent. The improvements in visuals can be cleary seen in the following two images.
Sunrise from season 1

Sunrise from season 2

And then we get to the first episode of the third season. Frankly it blew me away with its improved animations and visuals. It brings back the charm that the show has always had and once again immerses you with breathtaking scenery. The improvement in visuals are quite clear once again and can be seen in the two images below.
Fireworks from season 2

City view from season 3

And this brings us to the original point , yes the anime has improved over the years and that is a great thing but this means that  the first season is unfortunately the weakest and first impressions are very important, therefore I feel that the anime was not able to pack a punch that it was capable of. So yeah , overall I feel that Yama no Susume is something that everyone should give a try to. The first season might be a chore to get through for some but hey , it's just 36 minutes in its entirety. Now, for anyone who watched the first two seasons and still thinks that the show is shit, I understand and respect your opinion , I do have a kind of a soft spot for slice of life anime and maybe that is why I enjoyed this more than you but nevertheless thank you for atleast giving this anime a try. Thank you everyone for reading , for regular updates on any anime that I watch or any manga that I read follow me on twitter @allaboutanimee and have a nice day.

Today we will be taking a look at all the manga that Taishi Tsutsui has worked on , I will be talking about each one of them and comparing them as to showcase the journey that the mangaka has been through for the past decade. We will be starting with his first ever manga , Esprit. Esprit is a fantasy , action manga from Taishi Tsutsui , it is set in a world where numerous islands are called "homes" and people of a particular home have little to no knowledge about other homes. These homes are discovered and are kept in check by the agents of the "ocean affairs agency" , from here on I will be referring to these agents as OA agents (ocean affairs agents). These OA agents have certain powers called jinxes which stem from a person's faith. For example ,  if I believe with all my heart that I can cause weather changes then I will gain that power or jinx. The story follows an apprentice OA agent Mio and her friends' adventures , as they explore these hom...
