MANGA REVIEW: SHOKUGEKI NO SANJI

Alright , we have been blessed with another one shot this week. This time it's from Yuto Tsukuda, Shun Saeki and Yuki Morisaki , the authors of Food Wars ( Shokugeki no Soma ). The one shot is titled , Shokugeki no Sanji and as the title suggests , it is about Sanji from One Piece . Now that's a crossover that I am on board with. The events in the manga take place before Sanji meets Luffy and is about the meeting between Sanji and a renowned food critic , Savarin.

Now , because this one shot is about characters that are already established , it does not need to focus on providing any backstory at all. In the last blog I talked about this point while discussing Burn the Witch , which was forced to rely on text heavy pages to set up it's world but Shokugeki no Sanji does not have to do that as it's world is already well established , this worked as a major advantage for the manga as now the authors could give their full attention to make the story interesting without worrying about the backstory. The art style is as incredible as you would expect from Shun Saeki, he did a really good job in blending the art style of Food Wars and the world of One Piece. The writing is also fantastic , it is praiseworthy that they were able to keep the characters true to themselves and still managed to add their own twist to them. They even used  fictious ingredients which was a nice touch. This manga is something that will appeal to both Food Wars and One piece readers unless you are someone who hates the art style of Shun Saeki , which I don't think many people do.

Overall this was just brilliant and a very enjoyable read. If there is any One Piece fan out there who has not checked out Food Wars yet , then this might convince you to give it a read. I highly recommend this one shot to everyone and hope that it gets all the praise that it deserves. I would also like to thank the authors for making this one shot even though they had their own weekly series to work on and I think we all really appreciate them taking the extra load for us . So  yeah , check out Shokugeki no Sanji and leave your thoughts about it down in the comments below. Also let me know about some other one shots that you would recommend.

Thanks a lot for reading , follow me on twitter @allaboutanimee for updates regarding the blog , share the blog if possible and have a nice day.

The following image taken from the webtoon "sweet home" will probably make it clear. MANGAKA SPOTLIGHT #1: TAISHI TSUTSUI

Today we will be taking a look at all the manga that Taishi Tsutsui has worked on , I will be talking about each one of them and comparing them as to showcase the journey that the mangaka has been through for the past decade. We will be starting with his first ever manga , Esprit. Esprit is a fantasy , action manga from Taishi Tsutsui , it is set in a world where numerous islands are called "homes" and people of a particular home have little to no knowledge about other homes. These homes are discovered and are kept in check by the agents of the "ocean affairs agency" , from here on I will be referring to these agents as OA agents (ocean affairs agents). These OA agents have certain powers called jinxes which stem from a person's faith. For example ,  if I believe with all my heart that I can cause weather changes then I will gain that power or jinx. The story follows an apprentice OA agent Mio and her friends' adventures , as they explore these hom...

ANIME REVIEW: GAKKOU GURASHI

Gakkou Gurashi is a slice of life, horror anime from studio Lerche and is based off of a manga with the same name. It follows four highschool girls Yuki, Miki, Kurumi, and Yuuri who along with their teacher, Sakura, are members of the School Living club which, as the name suggests, is a club whose members live in the school and are not allowed to leave the school grounds. Yuki absolutely loves the school and the club but is unaware of the harsh reality behind its creation. So, slice of life and horror, these are two genres which are pretty difficult to combine and thus tend to result in disappointments but at the same time, if executed well, can make a show highly entertaining. Thankfully in this case the genres are combined pretty well, the plot is unique and no matter how ridiculous it may seem at first glance, it works. The plot develops into a really enjoyable and immersive story, the slick animations and pleasant background score ensure a good time for the viewers. But th...
