WEEKLY ANIME ROUNDUP

Welcome everyone to the weekly anime roundup , here I will be talking about stuff that took place in the anime industry over the past week. I will not be covering every little thing that happened over the week , but things that I feel to be substantial and worth mentioning.

VINLAND SAGA ANIME TO PREMIERE IN JANUARY 2019

What a month January is turning out to be for anime. Vinland Saga adds to the list of my highly anticipated anime that are coming out in January. Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga is probably the best historical manga I have read to date and I am really hyped for the anime adaptation. If you have not checked out the manga yet then I highly recommend you to do so.

SWORD ART ONLINE: ALICIZATION SET TO PREMIERE ON SEPTEMBER 15

Aniplex of America have announced a September 15 premiere for the SAO alicization arc. The show will be available on Japanese TV in October. Until a few weeks ago , I was thinking about skipping this one as I didn't really enjoy the previous two seasons of SAO but , I recently heard some good things about the arc from the novel readers. And I was finally convinced when @AlwaysLethargic tweeted out his thoughts about the novel. I admit , I still don't really care about the show , but I am willing to give it a shot.

MIRAI NO MIRAI THEATRICAL PREMIERE ON NOVEMBER 30

Both , Japanese and Dubbed versions of the new Mamoru Hosoda movie , Mirai no Mirai are set to premiere in the US on November 30. As a huge fan of Mamoru Hosoda's works and after seeing the cover art , I am naturally looking forward to this movie and hoping that it will live up to my expectations.

BOOGIEPOP SET TO RECEIVE A NEW ANIME ADAPTATION

Boogiepop is a mystery , horror anime adaptation of a novel of the same name. I wasn't really aware of this anime adaptation until PhenomSage made a video on it. After that I checked out its PV and what can I say , it blew me away with its incredible animations and brilliant soundtrack. And after checking the staff behind it , I got even more excited. It is directed by Shingo Natsume( one punch man , space dandy ) and it's music composer is Kensuke Ushio ( space dandy , silent voice ) , both of these men are absolute legends in their field and it's been a long time since I have been this excited for a horror anime. Fingers crossed, it turns out to be good.

ONE PUNCH MAN SEASON TWO TO AIR IN APRIL 2019

And now we move onto one of the most anticipated anime in recent years , one punch man. I would like to take the time and appreciate the marketing team for the trick that they pulled off this past week. For anyone unaware , they first announced that the new season will be out in 2020 , this naturally made a lot of fans angry and frustrated , but a day after that they announced a new release date , April 2019. This brought a lot of relief among the fans of the series , but just think about it , if they would have straight up announced the release date as April 2019 , a lot of people , who have been waiting a long time for the new season would have been agitated at the thought of having to wait for another year but because of the initial announcement of 2020 , they were able to announce the original date of of April 2019 without angering anyone and moreover making people happy. Now , the first episode came out on 12th August  2018 and at the time of writing this , I have not seen the episode , so I have no idea what to expect from the second season but I am definitely excited for it. Here is the visual revealed for the new season.

I am really excited for it as a lot of work has  gone into it , so stay tuned for that. For anyone who is unfamiliar with webtoons , it's basically manga with digital art instead of hand drawn art. The following image taken from the webtoon "sweet home" will probably make it clear. A digitally drawn page from sweet home  So now that everyone has a basic understanding of what webtoons are , let's start talking about sweet home. Sweet home is a horror/thriller webtoon from Youngchan Hwang and Carn...

MANGAKA SPOTLIGHT #1: TAISHI TSUTSUI

Today we will be taking a look at all the manga that Taishi Tsutsui has worked on , I will be talking about each one of them and comparing them as to showcase the journey that the mangaka has been through for the past decade. We will be starting with his first ever manga , Esprit. Esprit is a fantasy , action manga from Taishi Tsutsui , it is set in a world where numerous islands are called "homes" and people of a particular home have little to no knowledge about other homes. These homes are discovered and are kept in check by the agents of the "ocean affairs agency" , from here on I will be referring to these agents as OA agents (ocean affairs agents). These OA agents have certain powers called jinxes which stem from a person's faith. For example ,  if I believe with all my heart that I can cause weather changes then I will gain that power or jinx. The story follows an apprentice OA agent Mio and her friends' adventures , as they explore these hom...

WEBTOON REVIEW: LET'S PLAY

Let's play is a romance , comedy webtoon from Mongie. It follows Sam , a socially awkward indie game developer. After her first ever game is poorly reviewed by a famous YouTuber , she starts receiving a lot of hate comments from the fans of the YouTuber which throws her life into a disarray. Further complications occur when that very YouTuber moves to her apartment and that too , the room next to hers. First and foremost , the webtoon is really well written. The author herself follows a lot of "let's play YouTubers" , so she knows how tough their job can be and manages to show this aspect really well. At the same time she , being in the creative field , also understands how hate comments can affect a creators life. This allows her to do justice to both sides of the coin and she is able to justify all the actions that each of these characters take. This strong writing mixed with some brilliant art ensures a great time for the readers. The webtoon also has a fa...
